But how many times have we been told we're being dramatic? Because we're young so we have to have all this energy, want to take on the world, change it, mold it, make it better.
And some of us do, they make our generation proud, but that doesn't mean that some of us can't be tired, can't have a hard time getting up in the morning and just... Living.
Because it's not about age at all, it's about everything you've already lived.
You can be in your sixes and still ready to take on the world every morning, and that can be easy if you had an easy life. Or even if you're just that type of person.
You can also be a kid, a pre-teen, teenager or young adult having a hard time finding a reason just to open your eyes every morning.
It's all valid, we live different lives and the fact of the matter is, some people have a harder life than others, it doesn't matter the age.
So why should people judge someone that knows they're going through it just based on age?
That's not fair, to dismiss someone's struggles because they 'shouldn't be struggling at all'. That's the point, isn't it? People shouldn't be struggling, but they do. Anybody can have a rough patch, everybody deserves the right to not be okay and not be judged for it.
No two people have the same life, not even family.
My sibling and I have lived through the same childhood, but in different ways. Because two different people, we dealt with problems in different ways but neither way makes the other less valid.
It's about finding what works for you as an individual, what makes you happy and what makes the struggle worth it. It doesn't even have to make sense to anyone else.
And you know what? It doesn't matter if someone diminishes your struggles, all they're doing is showing you they're not worth having around. Yes, even family.
Do what makes you happy, as long as you're not hurting anybody else you do not need to apologize for being you.
And when you're having a hard time going on, just remember that there's something in your past that you never thought you'd get through, and you lived it and you survived it.
So keep surviving.
